Hi guys, we are Grace and Jess and welcome to our site! We are only just beginning our zero waste journey and we are not perfect, but we are here to help you on your journey too. Together we can tackle this problem of waste in the world.
Lemon & Jinja is a surprise venture for us. We love to travel and see new places, but we realised there was something that could be changed back where we live. So here we are, bringing the zero waste movement closer to home.
Jinja (pronounced 'ginger') is a town based on the historic source of the Nile in Uganda.
Why did we set up Lemon & Jinja?
We have grown up mostly in Braishfield village. A big change in our lives was when we moved to Uganda in 2009. In our family, the environment has always been an important part of our lives - we have grown up experiencing different cultures and seeing the detrimental effect we, as humans, are having on the planet.
So we thought why not do something about it?!
Grace is the older sister and has worked in many places abroad. She loves marine wildlife in particular and has taken part in various biological studies around the world.
Jess has also worked abroad, but back in Uganda. Her passion is African animals and she has worked at Ziwa rhino sanctuary in Uganda, as well as managing a safari lodge in a game park.
We have one planet. Let's love it.
This shop is amazing, the staff are always very friendly and helpful. The products are great too, we love our reusable straws, chocolate covered goodies and I look forward to trying my new shampoo! Will continue to recommend to friends and family 😊Synthia Chung
