These bags are handmade by Susan Opok in Uganda. Jess first met her in 2011 and they have always chatted about setting up a business together. When Lemon & Jinja started they created Nyabo, a kitenge business making bespoke products. The pattern is called ‘Kitenge’ and is East African.  Each sale from the Nyabo range makes a huge impact to Susan and the work she does in Uganda.

What are functional mushrooms, are they medicinal? Functional mushrooms are non toxic and are not the hallucigenic kind. They have nutritional value and have compounds which can be extracted to help formulate our immune response, fight infection, boost our energy level, combat inflammation and so much more. They are naturally high in beta glucans which have been shown to help strengthen our immune and help manage our insulin and cholesterol levels.

What is a dual extraction tincture? The compounds of interest are soluble in either water or alcohol. A dual extraction covers both a water and alcohol extraction.

About Myndful Mushrooms

Founded in 2022 by Chris and Jon, Myndful Mushrooms is rooted in authenticity, transparency, and a shared love for fungi. Chris brings years of experience foraging and cultivating gourmet strains such as Oyster and Lion’s Mane, while Jon grows mushrooms on his 4-acre Hampshire farm, Jolly Moon.

After a year of research, development, and expert collaboration, they launched their first tinctures in early 2024 and quickly became known for their integrity and passion, even hosting daily talks at Eweleaze Boutique Campsite that summer.

Now in partnership with the UK & Ireland Mycotherapy Practitioners Register, Chris and Jon continue to deepen their expertise, sharing the healing potential of mushrooms with the world.

The Story Behind the Design: In July 2022, Lemon and Jinja set up a pop-up shop in the heart of Romsey. While Jess was busy at the counter, a group of adults strolled by, curious about the shop. As they walked away, one of them casually remarked, "Oh, it's just one of those filly-uppy shop things." They didn’t stop to explore, but the phrase stuck with Jess. She was determined to turn it into something special for the shop!

Designed by Jess herself, the postcard proudly features the slogan "Voted Best in England 2023," a nod to Lemon and Jinja winning the prestigious Best Sustainable Lifestyle Business in England 2023 award from Muddy Stilettos.
