Who Doesn’t Love a Candle?

Candles bring warmth and ambiance to any space, but what happens when the wax is gone? Instead of tossing the container, why not switch to a refillable candle?

Our refillable Jesmonite candles are the perfect solution. Each pot is handcrafted, making it uniquely beautiful in design and colour. Simply choose your pot, grab a refill, and keep coming back for more refills - reuse the same pot again and again! Plus, any offcuts from the pots are repurposed into earrings (coming soon!).

These coconut wax candles are designed to fit perfectly into the Jesmonite vessels. Locally made, they come in fresh, room-filling scents and boast a burn time of approximately 40 hours.

How to Refill Your Candle Vessel

Prepare the Vessel:
After the candle has burned down, leaving some wax and the wick base, remove the residue. Use a spoon to gently lift the remaining wax and metal wick holder. For easier removal, place the pot in the freezer for 30 minutes to harden the wax—it can then be broken up and reused in a wax melter.

Clean the Vessel:
Wipe the inside with a damp cloth. Avoid submerging it in water or placing it in the dishwasher.

Insert Your New Refill:
Unwrap your refill and slide it into the vessel. If it’s a snug fit, simply scrape off a little wax from the sides until it fits perfectly.

Enjoy Your New Candle:
Light it up, breathe in the new scent, and relax!

How They’re Made

Every candlestick holder is individually handmade in a Berkshire pottery studio, using traditional techniques paired with clean, modern design.

• Small Batch Craftsmanship: Produced in limited runs of around 30 pieces, each holder is shaped over two days and left to dry for a week.

• Fired Twice for Strength: The first firing reaches 1000°C, preparing the clay for glazing. Each glaze is mixed in-house from raw powders and applied by hand, creating beautiful, organic patterns. The final firing at 1260°C ensures long-lasting durability and a refined finish.

• Sustainably Crafted: Made using renewable materials and eco-conscious methods, supporting ethical and low-impact ceramic production.

Jute plants are easy to grow, have a high yield per acre and, unlike cotton, have little need for pesticides and fertilisers. Jute grows during the rainy season in Bangladesh. The plants are ready to harvest in four to six months, after the flowers are shed.

Jute plants help to clean the air. During growth they take in three times more CO2 than the average tree, converting this CO2 into oxygen. As these plants grow fast, they are often used in crop rotation. The leaves and roots left after harvest enrich the soil with micronutrients, maintaining soil fertility.

The producer of these baskets in Bangladesh is committed to providing regular employment in a working environment that is safe and hygienic. They pay a living wage to all employees. They have developed an innovative way of producing jute rope and stylish jute baskets which means they can produce a much higher return from the jute than when it is sold for basic jute sacks.

Seagrass grows very quickly in shallow saltwater along coastlines and rivers. Once mature, the grass is cut by hand and dried in the sun, then hand twisted and woven. Dried seagrass is very durable and moisture resistant.

The fibres lie beneath the bark around the woody core. To extract the fibre, the jute bundles are submersed in water and left for a few days until the fibres come loose and are ready for stripping from the stalk, then washed and dried. This is what the ReSpiin baskets are made from. The remaining jute stalks can be used in a similar way to wood pulp, or work well as a renewable source of cooking fuel.
