Golden caster sugar, also known as raw caster sugar, is an unrefined fine-grain sugar with a light golden colour, similar in texture to white caster sugar. It's not to be mistake for light brown sugar, which gives a more fudgey texture.

It dissolved quickly and performs in the same way as white caster sugar, but is different to white caster sugar in that it still contains small amounts of molasses. The molasses give it the light golden colour, along with a slightly more caramel flavour.

Add a touch of artisanal charm to your kitchen with these beautifully handmade ceramic salt pigs, crafted exclusively for Lemon and Jinja by Charlotte Manser Ceramics. Each piece is stamped on the base with both the CMC and Lemon & Jinja logos: a small detail that makes every salt pig truly unique.

Available in two sizes:

• Small approx. 7cm tall

• Large approx. 10cm tall

How They’re Made

Every salt pig is carefully handmade in a small pottery studio in Berkshire, UK, using traditional techniques blended with a contemporary aesthetic.

• Small Batch Craftsmanship: Made in limited runs of around 30 pieces, each salt pig is shaped over a two-day period, then dried for a week.

• Fired Twice for Strength: The first firing reaches 1000°C, preparing each piece for glazing. Our glazes are mixed in-house from raw powders, then poured or dipped to create the organic, flowing patterns that make every salt pig one-of-a-kind. A final firing at 1260°C locks in durability and finish.

• Sustainably Made: Renewable materials and eco-conscious studio practices help minimise environmental impact, supporting ethical, small-batch pottery.

Care Instructions

• Microwave and dishwasher safe

• Natural variations in glaze and texture make each piece wonderfully unique

Whether you’re a seasoned cook or simply love beautiful, functional ceramics, these salt pigs bring a centuries-old craft into your everyday rituals. Perfect for your countertop or as a thoughtful, handmade gift.

Fermipan red dried yeast is the trusted choice of professional bakers across the world. This dry yeast rapidly rehydrates when mixed with water or when added directly to dough.

Fermipan yeast has extremely high fermentation power, which makes it a particularly good choice for lean doughs with low sugar content. It also reviewed for the less 'yeasty' flavour it gives to bread as compared to some other dry mixes.

Ingredients: Natural yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae), rehydrating yeast (E491)

Keep in a cool dry place.

Almond flour is made exclusively from blanched almonds and ground very finely, giving it a light, floury texture. Ground almonds may not be blanched and are coarser, which can make baked goods denser if used as a direct substitute.

Origin: Italy

Buckwheat flour is a nutritious and traditional wholegrain gluten-free flour with very distinctive earthy taste. Buckwheat flour is ground from Buckwheat, a herb related to rhubarb and sorrel, and is commonly referred to as a pseudo-grain.

It is a carbohydrate, but contains a high level of protein and fibre, aiding in digestion. It is also thought to contain anti-oxidants, which can help lower cholesterol and blood pressure.

Due to its lack in gluten, it should not be used in a 1:1 swap with wheat flour, however better results can occur if in use with a starchy flour. It additionally doesn't rise well, therefore is best suited to pancakes, biscuits or in pastry.

Top tip: If using it in a cake, combine it with a starchy flour, which as sweet rice flour, tapioca flour or nut flour, to produce a light and fluffy bake.

Common traditional uses include buckwheat blinis, galettes and soba noodles.

Pairs well with: chocolate, coffee, caramel, nuts and spices.

High quality fine vegan cocoa powder, perfect for adding that chocolatey loveliness into baking and hot chocolate. Other ideas include adding them into into smooties for a richer, chocolatey taste, sprinkling onto fruit, and added into granola bars.

Cocoa powder is made from cacao beans from the Cacao tree (Theobroma cacao). Cacao beans grow in within cacao pods that a variety of beautiful reds, yellows, greens and blues, which hang from the tree. Each pod contains 20-60 beans surrounded by the tart-sweet sticky cacao flesh, or 'fruit.'

'Are cocoa powder and cacao powder the same?' we hear you say...

No they are not. Both raw cacao powder and cocoa powder originate from the same beans, however differences are in the taste, nutritional value and texture, all to do with how the cacao bean is processes.

Cacao is lighter in colour, more fruity in flavour, and closer to its natural state than cocoa powder.

Cocoa is darker in colour, and is more processed and refined than cacao, including an extra processing step of roasting at high temperatures, decreasing its nutritional value.

Fancy something new??

We are in love with this totally vegan and the ultimately rich Chocolate guinness cake by Wallflower kitchen! You won't regret it!

Organic coconut flour has become a popular alternative to traditional wheat flours as it is naturally gluten free.  It is high in fibre and a source of iron.

This tasty organic coconut flour is ground down from the dried flesh of the coconut so is rich in nutrients. The organic coconut kernels are crushed and then dried at less than 60c and then the oil is released via cold pressing. The remaining coconut is then ground down in to a fine powder.

Organic flour can be used in breads, cakes and pancakes for a gluten free alternative to traditional wheat based flours and works well combined with other flours such as tigernut, almond or buckwheat flour.

Coconut flour is nutrient rich alternative for people with allergies or simply those wanting to add some variety in their cooking.  Take a look at our family tips for some ideas on how to bake with coconut flour.

Coconut palm sugar is a natural brown granulated sugar becoming increasingly popular, made from coconut palm sap (from the coconut palm tree, this sugar is not the same as palm sugar).

It retains some of the nutrients of the coconut palm, including small amounts of iron, zinc, calcium and potassium, along with antioxidants. Therefore is considered of higher nutritional value than regular refined sugar. But still use sparingly as even though its not as processed, it is still similar to regular sugar.

Organic ground flaxseed (linseed) is a very popular whole food which has been cultivated for over 6000 years. You may sometimes hear these little nutrient dense seeds being called linseeds – they are exactly the same thing.

One 30g serving of ground flaxseed is high in protein, fibre, B1, magnesium and manganese.  Flaxseed is actually one of the richest sources of plant based omega 3 fatty acids (also called alpha-linolenic acid – ALA).
