Transform Old Jewellery into Something New
Taster Workshop £80pp
15th July 6 - 8pm, upstairs at Lemon & Jinja
Join Emily of The Metalsmith at Lemon & Jinja for an inspiring introduction to ethical jewellery, and give an unworn piece a brand new life.
This hands-on workshop begins with a conversation around sustainable jewellery: how to identify the pieces you already own, what to look for when buying jewellery, and how to thoughtfully repurpose items you no longer wear.
Please bring along a few pieces of jewellery to identify and work with during the session.
For the practical part of the workshop, you’ll melt down an old piece of jewellery and transform it into a beautifully simple pebble pendant - a meaningful keepsake made from something you already own. If you have a chain you’d like to pair it with, feel free to bring it along. Silver chains will also be available to purchase if needed.
This workshop is suitable for reworking both silver and 9ct yellow gold pieces. Emily will also have scrap silver available for anyone who doesn’t have jewellery to repurpose.
What to bring
Please come prepared with:
-
A few old jewellery pieces to identify and/or repurpose
-
A chain for your pendant (optional)
-
A hair tie if you have long hair
-
Glasses if needed for close-up work
-
Clothes you don’t mind getting a little messy
For safety, please avoid synthetic fabrics, loose clothing, and open-toed shoes.
Please note
A small number of leather tools will be used during the workshop. These have been sourced second-hand, well-loved, or rescued from landfill wherever possible.
